Join us again for another cultural art as we introduce Japanese Tea. Joining us will be Pedro Villalón | 龍羽 of O5 Tea in Vancouver, BC. Pedro, along with Matsuoka Sensei, will not only be introducing us to Japanese tea but will be helping us brew different kinds of tea. I you hurry, you can order a special package from O5 Tea, so you can brew tea along with us during the Zoom Session. Donors will receive a special discount code!
If you do not plan on ordering the Tea Package from O5 Tea, Pedro suggests the following for attendees:
Please have at hand:
- Some Japanese tea at hand. If you do not have the Doshinokai Foundation package, I suggest to get hold of the following at your favourite local shop:
- Sencha
- Matcha
- Bancha (ideally fermented)
- Water
- Cold (room temperature)
- Hot (boiling, from a thermos or kettle)
- Ice (crushed is ideal)
- Sparkling or tonic water – optional
- Teapot (or any nice container that you may find at home. A Japanese kyushu is ideal; a Western teapot between 8oz and 16oz also works. If you have none, please grab whatever nice pitcher (glass or ceramic) you may have at hand.
- Chawan (tea bowl). If you don’t have one, a rice bowl will work very well too.
- Chasen (tea whisk). If you don’t have one, please bring a mason jar or a thermos. I’ll explain later 🙂
- Chashaku (tea scoop). If you don’t have one, please bring the smallest tea spoon you can find.
- 1 hashi (chopstick)

Please join us for our next cultural art seminar, Abe Sensei’s Shodo • Calligraphy. This introduction to Abe Sensei and Shodo will be in introduction to the Japanese art of Shodo and one of its preeminent masters, Abe Seiseki Sensei.

Join us for our inaugural seminar on the fascinating art of Kado (Ikebana or flower arranging). The seminar will consist of an online introduction followed by live online session with instruction and coaching.
